About the Role
Powers Transit is seeking a Trucking Operations Manager to lead and oversee daily operations at our Owl’s Head Alloy site in West Point, MS. This role will be responsible for coordinating driver schedules, dispatching, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of freight. The ideal candidate will also track and oversee truck repairs, ensuring all units are road-ready and maintained according to company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate and manage scheduling and dispatching for a team of 7 drivers (with potential growth in the near future).
• Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, customers, and company leadership regarding daily operations.
• Monitor and track truck maintenance and repairs; work with mechanics and vendors to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with DOT and safety regulations.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and accountability for drivers and support staff.
• Prepare and maintain reports on fleet performance, driver logs, and operational metrics.
• Assist in scaling operations as the driver pool and workload expand.
Qualifications
• Prior management or supervisory experience in trucking, logistics, or fleet operations strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of scheduling, dispatching, and transportation management practices.
• Basic mechanical understanding and the ability to oversee maintenance and repair needs.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to a growing operation and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with dispatching software (Excel, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office) is a plus.
• Maintaining a CDL is required
